...A little birdie told me

Soooo, there are a few online spots I visit regularly--of course the ones that sell assortments of cute cute heels, where I can dream and browse the most in-style kicks on the planet. Other than that, I must say that I enjoy scopin' out the scene of the many online boutiques that are out there. One of them that I've been mucho adoring lately is blonde birdie--this super-stylish gal has got tons o' goods in her saucy online store! I figured since I've been browsing this place so much, I'd show off some of my favorite items for ya on this fine Monday. A girl can't live on heels alone, can she?

Women's accessories, handbags, jewelry and scarves line the online shelves at blonde birdie boutique. Ahhh, the assortment is quite something! My latest obsessions right now consist of the 'Walk the Line' white ring, as well as the 'Chiffon Sisters' earrings. Check these gorgeous goods out:

I also am diggin' this Milly woven clutch in richly-colored turquoise. It's one lovely clutch that's ready to take out for a day of simple shopping or a night out on the town. Perfectly portable and wonderfully woven!

Feast your fashionista eyes on blonde birdie's Wisteria Blooms scarf in royal purple, and also the Golden Buds scarf. Both are perfect for that added splash of color to any jeans & tee outfit.

I decided to ask the owner of blonde birdie a few questions...just to pick her stylish brain on how she got started, and where she drew her inspiration from, etc. etc. Thought you'd be interested to know...

Tell us about blonde birdie and how you got started:

I worked for an independent boutique for many years and was fortunate enough to have a boss who was eager to share her knowledge of buying and design with her staff. Unfortunately she wasn’t so eager to pursue new ways of expanding her business such as internet sales. Then one day it dawned on me that I didn’t have to wait for someone else to decide to build a website--I could start my own, and blonde birdie was born. I don’t quite remember how blonde birdie was named, but I’ve always loved birds (in design, not in real life) and I’m a true blondie (even when my hair is not), so it just seems to fit perfectly.

What or who inspires your online boutique's style?
It sounds cliché, but I find inspiration all around me. I’m constantly taking random snapshots with my camera of things that don’t makes sense to other people or ripping pages from magazines to take home and put on my inspiration board. I love eclectic French décor--my style was once described as French flea market, which may not sound complimentary to some, but I thought it was perfect! I try to make sure we have a mix of vintage-inspired items as well as some that would satisfy more contemporary shoppers.

Give us one tip about personal or at-home style:
Don’t be afraid to mix and match. If everything in your home coordinates too perfectly it looks too planned. If you love something made of iron, buy it. If you love something made of wood, buy it. This mix of textures and materials helps to give your home a real lived-in look, which although may not be perfect will always be welcoming.

This online shop also carries items for the home, great gift ideas, and even super cute kids stuff--there's even a sweet sale page! So before you hit the mall and fight that angry & busy parking lot, check out blonde birdie and see what's up. Happy Monday, friends!

xoxo,

Shoe closet love.

I will be the first to stand up and admit that I have a fabulous husband. Not only is he smart, funny, creative and patient, but he's pretty darned hot too! I still consider us newlyweds (and probably will for quite some time), because we're always doing thoroughly silly stuff for one another--keepin' things fresh, fun and surprising, ya know? Here's one of my fave pics of us, taken a few years ago during our engagement photoshoot. Good times. That being said, I was still simply breath-taken when I came home from a way-too-long day of work and found that my sweet beau had used his furlough day (yes, it's not just a vicious rumor that we have those all over the place in the state of CA) to transform our hall coat closet into none other than a shoe closet . You heard me right... shoe closet = every girl's dream, ya? We don't really use our hall coat closet anyway, living in such a warm southern California city, so I was thrilled to actually put this space to

Long time, no type.

You guys. Has it seriously been a full YEAR since I've typed up a blog post on here? That is both depressing and encouraging. Depressing--because I feel like I have forgotten about my first "child" my Holly in Heels blog. Encouraging--because it means that I have been suuuper busy with other fun and creative projects, like my continued PR and media copywriting, contributions to Coyote + Oak magazine out of San Luis Obispo, as well as Locale Magazine 's newest San Francisco addition. I have to admit that while these other (paying) jobs keep me busy and on my toes, I do stop and think about my former life as a fashion and lifestyle blogger, and how I miss the creative outlet. To be able to write about whatever topic I choose is certainly a gift. Writing is also therapeutic for me--this blog is like a friend. Like the kind you can call up anytime, talk about the deep stuff and then mention this new conditioner you tried...and then switch back to the meaning of lif

Pour la GIVEAWAY!

I'm a sucker for free stuff. Who isn't? Especially when it's SHOES. Anyone with me?...ya, pretty sure ya are. Well, I'm jumpin' for joy as I write this post, because Miss Holly in Heels herself has been asked to partner up with a super-fabulous shoe company called Pour La Victoire . Maybe you've heard of 'em? If you haven't heard of the lovely PLV's then listen up--because this shoe co. is one hot commodity! You can find Pour La Victoire's at top-notch retailers like Piperlime , Nordies , Zappos , Bloomies and Saks , and known for their chic and classic style in high-high-heel makin' and designin'. Pour La Victoire's 'victorious' fashions are not only known as the “next big thing” but have also skyrocketed in popularity among socialites, and celebs. High-fashion fans like Anne Hathaway, Rachel Weisz and Alexa Chung have made public appearances sporting their fave PLV heels, boots and sandals. I'm talking $100+ shoes an
