A Strappy Dilemma.

You guys. There are so many cuuuuuute shoes out this spring. This is kinda the time of year where I start to get excited about shoe shopping again. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a universal, year round sorta hobby...but when I can paint my toes pretty colors and pop on a dress or a cool pair of skinnies - my feet get excited that they're not longer crammed into boot weather! This season, lace-up sandals and flats, cage sandals, gladiators, and wedges are all the rage. I can get on board with the wedges, but now that I'm in mom-mode for most of my everydays, I shy away from cage and lace-up styles. Puh-leeease. It takes me too dang long to lace up a sandal when my toddler is running out the door, and when I can easily slip into a chic slide sandal just the same. Well, THANK YOU JESUS, I found work-around! I am love love loving these Sam Edelman 'Ginette' Sandals that criss cross, but ZIP up the back. Holluh! I thought twice about the price, but I think in...

This summer.

Ok sweet blogosphere friends--welcome to the final few days of summer. I simply cannot believe it. As much as I'm an "autumn" spirit at heart, I have loved this last June, July, and August which have been filled with so many memorable adventures, highs, lows, loves, heartbreaks, and of course...lots and lots of summer shoes! As you'll be able to tell from the amount of blogging I have not done, it's been a very good summer! I'd say one of the BIGGEST highlights of the hot, hot, heat this summertime was my adventure to Las Vegas! Exactly 1 week before my little baby Hazel's 1st birthday, I hopped a plane and met my beloved cousin in Sin City. Not only was it one of the most relaxing vacations I've had, but it was the most money I've ever spent in one weekend - ha! I'm still mayyy-jorly loving my husband for not disowning me after he saw the receipts ( more on that story later! ). During my fab Vegas adventure, I had a few go-to shoes that I...

These slip-on wedges are the perfect first shoe for your spring wardrobe - an ease into the new season of colors, patterns and styles. Yours truly, in fact, has them in multiple colors, but the stripes are next on my list! With a 3" heel and a cushioned insole, these darling espadrilles will have you hopping around town in comfort and in style. And 30 bucks means you just can't go wrong! Go go go, I'll meet you at Target! xoxo, holly in heels

Shoe in Review: the best shoes of 2013!

It's 2014, y'all! I cannot believe it. Ok, I kinda can, it was Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then time for a champagne toast, and we did it all in style, so it is about time we see a new year in front of us, frankly. But when I look back on all of the good style and glamorous shoes that have come across my fashion-loving eyes this year, I feel quite compelled to take a long hard look at the best shoes of 2013! Let's check it... THE WEDGE SNEAKS. About this time last year, we were looking at the dawn of wedge sneakers ! A trend I was unsure about, I will admit - but it did make the magazines and the wardrobes of some stylish celebs, I will say. Some metallics, some bold colors, the sky was the limit! FLATS IT. As I was prepping for spring (and a baby growing in my tummy!), I had my eye on flats. Honestly, 2013 could have been the YEAR for flats - so many brands and trends were screaming flat nation - adorable polka dot flats, animal prints and patents and suedes l...

Target, you're cute.

I love Target. Who doesn't, really?! I recently have started following "Target Does it Again" on Instagram , and that girl does an amaaaazing job of taking shameless selfies of the cutest Target items on their racks, and enticing shopaholics like myself. Basically, she has me hot on Target's tracks - I'm loving their clothes and shoes more and more each day! And since fall is here, the wind in the OC is blowin' like it does, and I'm shopping for cute sweaters and cords instead of sandals and tanks - I have had my eyes peeled for good fall kicks. Check out these Women's Xhilaration 'Sinead' T-Strap Open Toe wedges , in an awesome maroon color. I dig the gold toe accent, and the open toe t-strap is perfect for Southern California weather (like I'm enjoying now!). An awesome 5-inch wedge with a 1.5-inch platform gives any shorty some extra height on a pretty fall day, and at $29 who can argue they'd find a better deal?! Love these, lo...

Zara strappy sandal style

Zara is one of those beloved but often overlooked stores/brands that I keep circling back to these days. The store's sassy Euro style knocks it out of the park every time for me - stylish wedges, on-trend sandals, heels, and more. And when Zara has a sale...oh man, oh man, you know where to find me! So I thought I'd shed a little light on the sale subject this week and share with you a few of my fave Zara strappy sandals - now ON CLEARANCE online and in-store: The 'Combination Heel' from Zara is beautifully, and stylishly color-blocked, with a hearty buckle and squared off toe to finish. These wedge sandals would go seamlessly with a breezy tank and some boyfriend denim - or even a summer dress in just the right shade. At $29, who could go wrong?! I totally love these 'Studded Strappy Sandals' - their neutral color goes with literally anything in your summer (or spring!) closet, and the 4" heel is just the right height! Your go-to heel with that sum...

I miss heels.

It's official. I miss heels. I may get to wear spandex a whole lot, and tighter dresses than I've worn since my college days...and I do get the occasional "you're the cutest pregnant girl!" comment (which I do appreciate), but nothing compares to wearing heels. I miss standing in front of my shoe closet, looking for the perfect pair to my outfit. I miss the long look my legs used to have in a good pair of heels or wedges - the way it would finish an outfit and make me feel like a million bucks! Only a few more months of this...but in the meantime, excuse me while I drool over these 'Abby' wedge espadrilles with the clear heel, by French Connection . Love me some turquoise! So all you NON-preggo girls out there, do me a favor. Wear some heels in honor of yours truly. I'll be joining you in about 6 weeks (along with a margarita)! xoxo, holly in heels

Crushing on Sam & Libby for Target

Of course I always dig when Target partners up with a top-notch designer--but it's icing on the fashion cake when they pair up with a shoe brand! That's why I'm currently digging the Sam & Libby for Target of sandals, wedges, and stilettos currently on shelves. I picked myself up a pair the other day when I was at Target, and I am looooving my neon purchase! Here's a taste of what you must get your fashionista hands on, with Sam & Libby for Target: The Sam & Libby Kylie Strappy Thong Sandal is a metallic dream come true. The ankle strap adds an adorable gladiator-like look that will never go out of style! Next on my list of Sam & Libby faves is the Kelly Wedge Sandal with an ankle strap, in bone color. The tribal-inspired wedge has a pop of color around the toe, and a perfect wedge and platform. I love the color on the Sam & Libby Sonia Silver Wedge Sandal in natural snake & coral. Check it: And last, but not least, is the Sa...

Torn on a wedge.

As I browse the shoe sites and blogs in my daily routine this week, I continue to come across a trend that I'm just still undecided on: wedge sneakers . You know the kind--a high heel version of a sporty sneaker, with absolutely no athletic use at all. A heel that sheepishly hides behind a Nike swoosh or a pair of Velcro straps, but nonetheless, is worn by dozens of stylish celebs! Wedge sneaks originally were in style in the great decade of the 90's--you know, when Alanis was all the rage and 90210 was your favorite prime time show! These high-heeled high tops could be spotted in clubs and raves, and later on the sweet feet of British pop band, the Spice Girls (before Posh Spice married Beckham!). But in late 2012 and now 2013, wedge sneakers of the season range anywhere from metallic materials in silver and gold, to colorful suedes, and even throwback mesh materials. Brands like Steve Madden, MICHAEL by Michael Kors, and Ash have jumped on board with their styles, as s...

Ok...now I'm ready.

I love summertime. I love the long days where I can come home from my day-job and still squeeze a jog around the neighborhood in, I love the BBQs, the pool parties, the good excuses for travel, the warm mornings with the windows open, and just the all-around feeling in the air. Oh, and of course I love the SHOES--wedges, sandals, and any other heel that shows off my non-stop pedicure! But it's usually right around now, every year, that I begin to spy on the upcoming fall fashions and long for the days where the leaves change color (and so does my shoe closet!). And my summer-lovin' heart especially jumped for joy when I saw these new suede Desert Wedges from TOMS shoes :   ( photos courtesy of TOMS ) In 3 fabulous fall colors, TOMS shows off their latest fall design with this solid 2 3/4" wedge, lined inside with wool plaid, topped off with the softest suede this side of the Mississippi. These awesome wedge booties would pair well with ANYTHING--skinny jeans, l...

Espadrille inspired.

Lately, I've been drawing some fashion inspiration from the all-time classic, J.Crew. Gazing at their catalog, studying the mannequins in their storefront, and reminding myself of the cute, cute selection of knits & tees that can be mixed with color and texture--I'm getting new ideas all the time and lovin' it. J.Crew always has a fantastically chic selection of shoes --most of the time, they're a little beyond my budget, but lucky for you, I spotted a sale ! Of course we all know that espadrilles are soooo all the rage this summer, with a pop of color or pattern they are bound to complete any outfit. These 3 wedge espadrilles are toppin' my list of must-haves, no doubt: Slip these staple summer shoes on with sassy cut-offs, a hot little dress, or your favorite dressy lace shorts, like so...LOVE. So happy summer, fashionistas! What are YOU inspired by? xoxo, holly in heels

Rockstar Heels, Rockstar Concert!

Every gal needs a pair of solid, shout-out-loud, rockstar heels. Am I right? I believe I am. Once in a while, you need to get out of those almost expected everyday heels and head for the extreme, head-turning kicks. I know, I know...it may sound a little scary at first, but once you step into some crazy-cool heels that push the limits, pair them with some hot, hot skinny jeans and a few of the right gems--you're an instant knock out! Jeffrey Campbell is always pushing the limits, with his edgy designs and towering heel heights. I have to say, I'm not always running to the Campbells, but for rockstar heels, he's my man. Check out these super chic, but screamin' rockstar 'Audrey' pumps ! The generous 6" heel with 2" platform (comparable to a 4" heel) balances out the sheer nude patent leather all around the pump. And a cute ankle buckle to finish--woooweee! And what goes well with those rockstar pumps? Rockstar tickets to a killer rock show, o...

Tory Sunday.

There's no denying it, Tory Burch has some wicked good style. I know most husbands probably roll their eyes and don't understand the love we shoe-girls might have for Miss Burch, but her shoes are just impeccably classic and give that must-have polish to any outfit. Now, I'll admit that I don't have a ton of Tory Burch kicks in my shoe closet, but I do have some of her famous 'Reva' flats , and I have to say they were well-worth the dough! But check out Tory's wedges--they're enough to get me straight to the mall on this lovely Sunday sabbath: The 'Linley' high espadrille - with it's woven bliss and pretty tied-up finish: No denying the 'Sherri' wedge is the perfect blend of casual + bold: And lastly, the 'Breacher' wedge has that tribal flair that is so now - perfect for a hot summer day of shopping and city-gazing: So what's YOUR Sunday style? Is it Tory or Steve or Sam? xoxo, holly in heels

TOMS for all occassions

Have I ever told you all how much I love TOMS shoes ? I mean, I'm sure by now TOMS is old news to many of you - their "one for one" movement has taken communities by storm, with a cause worth buying for, that truly gives back. I, myself, own several pairs of TOMS, but when I got my sweet feet into a pair of their wedges recently, I fell in love! They are SO comfy, so fun and different than any of the other wedges in my closet, I really do adore them! And now with the new shiny, sparkly holiday collection that TOMS is sportin', I couldn't help but blog about it and spread the word. Check 'em, ladies: These are a few of my faves - you can find all of the shiny styles here . And if it's TOMS wedges you're after, check out the awesome selection that Nordstrom carries . Always on the lookout for a good wedge - especially when it comes with a great cause. xoxo, holly in heels

Am I off here?

There are some trends in fashion that catch on--like the miniskirt or the wedge sandal or the peep-toe pump. These standards tend to stick around, and even live through generations of stylish sweethearts and fashionistas. And theeeeeen there are some trends that die quickly (and I thank the fashion gods for that!)--I'm mostly thinking of the 80's here--decked out hi-tops, slap bracelets, hammer pants, scrunchies, you get the gist. Well, one of the recent trends I came across on a recent fall fashion report, by one of my trusted sources , was the wedge boot trend. Sizes, textures, shapes and heights of all proportion, these $200+ wedge boots strike me as a fleeting fashion--somethin' you won't catch this girl wearin', that's fo sho. Now, you gotta be honest with me, readers--am I off here? Are these wedge boots a piece of something you'll be sportin' around town? Do tell! xoxo, holly in heels

Loafer love.

Hey loves, Although it's still 80+ degrees outside and September hasn't even hit, I still find myself looking ahead to my next fall shoe purchases! With tweed, suede and animal prints on the top of the fall trends list, I've been browsing around for what's out there that fits with my own style...and Ooooo boy, have I found it! I've recently fallen in love with these Sam Edelman 'Wesley' loafer wedges . Yep, feast your eyes on them ladies--5 inches of wooden wedge wonder, and 100% suede. Mr. Edelman, where did you GET such style?! xoxo, holly in heels
