A little dream, a new beginning!

Good morning, shoppers! I hope you all have had a fabu Thanksgiving, and a little time away with family and friends. I don't know about y'all, but I've taken FULL advantage of some excellent Black Friday deals (mostly from the comfort of my cushy couch, hot cocoa in-hand), and even Small Biz Saturday! It's been fun to check some things off of the Christmas list, and see what's out there, too! Well, lemme get to the good stuff here...as some of you know, for a long time now I've had this blog, gushed about shoes, wailed over shoe sales, found you all bargains and on-trend beauty finds, and even had a man's perspective on women's shoes (one of my faves!). I love writing, and I am HAPPY that I'll continue to do so via this fashion blog and a few print magazines - but I DO have a confession: I have always wanted a boutique . Oh yes, it's true. To be my own buyer, sell on-trend threads and accessories, shop the seasons and chat with customers, thi...

Pinching pennies.

I've been trying to be super good lately about my shopping habits. I know, you're probably wondering if I'm running a fever, or am in some sort of hallucinogenic'd state of mind (believe me, I can't help but stop and wonder occasionally myself these days!). But after looking at our household budget in this season of our lives, I felt like I should cool it on the weekly trips to the mall, and stop shamefully hiding shopping bags and silencing tag pulls from my husband. Eek! One guilt-free loophole to the pinching pennies state of mind is, of course, going the discount route. Instead of shopping the serene aisles of Nordstrom (where I always manage to get sucked into some fabulous heels), try hitting up Forever 21, for some adorable, on-trend kicks, at 1/4 the price... D'Orsay Ankle Strap Pumps are soooo spicy, and 27 bucks! To. Die. For.:   I dig the edgy look of these Button Strap Booties , designer style at a oh-so right price: F21's Satin Hear...

Sunday best: Loeffler Randall

It's Sunday night, and I'm blogging again. It's been an awesome few weeks of summer vacation--traveling the highways and byways of the golden state of California, making the most of this great weather! All the while, I've been inspired by new shoe finds found in the nooks and crannies of some adorable boutiques in all of these amazing Cali cities. But my latest crush, you ask? My answer would be: Loeffler Randall . LR is about as old as my college education--founded in 2005, designer Jessie Randall was the brain child behind it all. Loeffler Randall is the creator of some of the great staples in flat boots, now branching out into some amaaaayzing heels, flats, and clog-inspired sandals. So, so cute and with their own unique style, browse the summer sale (up to 50% off!) and get a taste of what they do. I think I dig the cork heels, random buckles, and studded edges of these adorable heels for just that: their character. If you haven't noticed by now, I to...

A Fresh Start

Ok, so confession time (do I do this often on here? I think so): I'm .2 seconds away from purchasing these shoes for myself. I've actually be reeeeeally good lately--haven't had too many splurges since I got so many good prezzies for Christmas. But then good ol' Piperlime.com had to send me an email that said "Hey Holly! We're having a super-sweet Lime Tag Sale and it's got your name on it!" (in that irresistible voice they do...yeah, picture it), and it was all over. And ironically enough, the chic shoe I'm talkin' about is Seychelles 'Fresh Start' pump . This peep-toe'r has a girlish charm to it, but also a rough & tumble vibe with that ankle strap detail. A modest 3" heel and 100% leather even sweeten the deal that is now only 49 buck-a-roos! Hmmm, don't be too surprised if you find that these beauties have wound up in my shoe closet ! Are they not adorable?! Well, Happy Friday, everyone! You made it. Let the week...

It's never too late for sandals!

So, it ain't fair, I know, but livin' in sweet & sunny Southern California allows us west coast gals to bask in the warm sun for 90% of the year--and even keep our sandals close by to throw on and head to the beach or the mall! We are spoiled, I know, but I really have grown accustomed to the fact that 85 degrees is HOT and 65 degrees is chilly ! Well, not only does this allow for lots of happy hours on the patio or even year-round bbq'ing in our backyard...it allows me to snag some stinkin' sweet deals on sandals when they're goin' on clearance, without having to wait til next spring to sport 'em! Specifically, I'm currently boasting about my recent Piperlime purchase of the long-time coveted Emma Pink 'Laria' wedges: Months and months ago, I blogged about these pink beauties (way back when they were $98!), but patience is indeed a virtue in this case, 'cause they just got marked down tremendously to $29.97! My lovely 'Laria...

Rebel Ravens

There's honestly something magical about Urban Outfitters to me. I seem to get lost in that place every time I step foot in it! Not only do I manage to watch my 60-minute lunch break fly by like the wind, but I can also easily find vintage-y, unique tops & skirts, funky jewelry, amazing shoes aaaand funny prank gifts all in one spot! Seems no matter what city I find an 'Urban' in or if I'm shopping at the online store, I'm able to find gobs of pretty pretty things for my ever-growing wish list. Among these items I found today were the strappy & rebellious Miss Sixty Raven Platforms (discounted by $80!). Of course, the Miss Sixty brand is known for their daring designs and risky footwear, but these are well within my range o' risk! That charmingly chunky, semi-wedge wooden heel makes these kicks extremely versatile and wearable with white skinny jeans or a pencil skirt & wispy top. Just lace these leather lovelies up, and you're ready-set-go-ing...

Sale spotting

There is a seriously sweet shoe clearance going on right now, as we speak, at Nordstrom.com . I think you owe it to yourself (and your ever-growing shoe closet) to check it out. And if you don't have time to comb all 500 of the shoes found on there, you can always turn to your trusty shoe guide, in yours truly. Check out these gorgeous finds, of various styles & shades, at some dangerously low prices. . . . Lucky Brand gives us this organically good 'Rory' slin gback that has a great stitched platform, bound to add style to any casual outfit. Paired with some dark skinny jeans you'll show off that hippie-chic you've been dying to bust out. There's something about these Calvin Klein 'Dana' slingbacks that grabbed my eye--probably those striking stripes that cover the top of this more polished, yet still funky slingback. They come in different colors online, but I'm voting for the Cream/Brown snakeskin--which can pass as a fall/winter or spring/s...

Silky Meets Shine

It's Friday--and man oh man, what a week it's been. I hear that lazy Saturday mornin' calling my name right now (mmm, fressshh coffee too). There's nothin' like it! Well, when I turned on my computer today, my friends at Shop It To Me turned me onto a great shoe deal at J.Crew.com! What a treat! You'll be happy with these little sweetums on your feet--silky meets shine and found some color too: Darcy satin-and-patent pumps ...made in Italy, these pumps give you just the right amount of lift with a modest 2 1/2" heel (buyer's tip: order a half size larger than normal). And look closely for that thin pink line that rides all the way around the opening of the pump--Ooo girl, it's all in the details! xoxo, holly in heels

I'm in the mood for RED

It's Valentine's Day weekend and it's completely gotten me in the mood to bake heart-shaped cookies, cut out Valentines... and of course add some RED to my shoe closet! Let's face it here folks, a classic red heel (or even funky red heel) goes with just about anything-- especially your little black dress that comes out of the closet every mid-February for it's night on the town. I've combed the shoe world once again, only to find the most adorable sizzling red heels, at some really great prices. Enjoy!...and if you don't have a V-day sweetheart this year, try on any of these red rubies and let me know how quickly your luck changes! . . . Kate Spade Candy pumps are a "bon bon of a shoe" as endless.com says! The thick striped red & black combo and the elegant black bow'd toe is the perfect finsher heel on any gorgeous outfit...and they contain fewer calories than a box of chocolates. If you're lookin' for height, you've come to...
