Shootie Booties

In honor of the cloudy weather outside my California window this morning, as well as the killa' 20% off savings on all sale items going on at Piperlime.com (ends today! enter promo code EXTRA20), I wanted to show off a few ultra cute styles for fall--or as I affectionately call them: shootie booties. Short & sweet, with that sorta boyfriend-look, and jam packed with buckles, studs and zipper details, it's about time you get to shoppin' for fall (it's really just right around the corner now!).

For starters, lookie here at these Hive & Honey 'Marlen' ankle boots--100% leather on a just-right 3 1/2" stacked heel. I, of course, really dig the braided tie detail at the ankle, making these very J.Crew-esque boots something that will go with everything in your fall wardrobe. A great staple at a great price!
Or whaddya think of Kenneth Cole Reaction's 'Cheap Trick' open-toe bootie?! All leather--from the lining to the outsole and the upper--you'll be walkin' in 3-inches of pure quality & style! I think my absolute fave part of this peep-toe bootie is that scrunched material that runs up the foot to the ankle. It's so cozy and relaxed, making these 'Cheap Trick's easy to pair with a fall dress or even your favorite jeans.

Wicked is just what these Chinese Laundry 'Wicked' ankle boots are (to my poor bank account that's seen a lotta shoe-purchasing action lately!). The dark black leather with that sassy ruching detail at the golden zipper closure, woooowee! They'll wickedly give you a little height too, with a 4" heel and 3/4" hidden platform.
Savor your summer, but don't forget that fall's almost here!

Shoe closet love.

I will be the first to stand up and admit that I have a fabulous husband. Not only is he smart, funny, creative and patient, but he's pretty darned hot too! I still consider us newlyweds (and probably will for quite some time), because we're always doing thoroughly silly stuff for one another--keepin' things fresh, fun and surprising, ya know? Here's one of my fave pics of us, taken a few years ago during our engagement photoshoot. Good times. That being said, I was still simply breath-taken when I came home from a way-too-long day of work and found that my sweet beau had used his furlough day (yes, it's not just a vicious rumor that we have those all over the place in the state of CA) to transform our hall coat closet into none other than a shoe closet . You heard me right... shoe closet = every girl's dream, ya? We don't really use our hall coat closet anyway, living in such a warm southern California city, so I was thrilled to actually put this space to

Long time, no type.

You guys. Has it seriously been a full YEAR since I've typed up a blog post on here? That is both depressing and encouraging. Depressing--because I feel like I have forgotten about my first "child" my Holly in Heels blog. Encouraging--because it means that I have been suuuper busy with other fun and creative projects, like my continued PR and media copywriting, contributions to Coyote + Oak magazine out of San Luis Obispo, as well as Locale Magazine 's newest San Francisco addition. I have to admit that while these other (paying) jobs keep me busy and on my toes, I do stop and think about my former life as a fashion and lifestyle blogger, and how I miss the creative outlet. To be able to write about whatever topic I choose is certainly a gift. Writing is also therapeutic for me--this blog is like a friend. Like the kind you can call up anytime, talk about the deep stuff and then mention this new conditioner you tried...and then switch back to the meaning of lif

Celebratin' with a GIVEAWAY!

So, on the eve of 2011 something verrrrry exciting happened to Miss H in H (no, it's not baby news, mom, sorry!): I launched the brand spankin' new look of my blog ! Yep, it was pretty landmark-ish and something I had been lookin' forward to for a long, long time. And now that I've pretty much worked out all of the kinks and gotten it down to the way I want it, I feel like it's time to CELEBRATE! And what better way to do that than with a HIGH HEEL GIVEAWAY !? You heard right. High heel giveaway. You'rewelcomeverymuch. I'm so super excited to be givin' away a pair of heels from Jen + Kim for Coloriffics ! These girls have quite a story , which started when they became friends way back in 6th grade (how cute!). Having always been shoe-lovers and fellow fashionistas, Jen and Kim took their love for kicks & fashion and turned it into something big by pairing up with a shoe company called Coloriffics (makers of some of my favorite shoes-- like these love
