Shoes and the City

It's like sweet music to my ears--Sex and the City 2 the movie came out yesterday and I couldn't help but go to bed and wake up thinking about all of the beautiful clothes, shoes and accessories that I had seen in that movie. Sarah Jessica Parker and the rest of her sexy crew are all so darned awesome with their daring New York styles--it was eye candy to the max. Sure, the movie was like a 2-hour commercial for Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates (no spoiler alerts here really, I swear!), but I just had no choice but to show off a few SATC2 fashions today just to get it outta my system.
Carrie's signature Christian Louboutin Pigalle Crystal Encrusted Stiletto Pumps (found here in black patent) were a scene-1 'wow'. Paired up with this simple and classic white spring dress, these golden pumps sparkle with every step! I've also found an everyday girl price on some knock-offs of these in the ASOS Sara Pointed Glitter Shoe, so you can get the look without sweatin' the price (you're welcome very much).
One of the more casual outfits in the movie (notice the funny green sweatband writstlet, ha!) was among my favorites. The skinny ankle jean-look is always at the top of the list for me, but these killer Brian Atwood 'Loca' Studded Pumps had me thinking of hittin' up the mall, post-movie (too bad it was 10pm before we got outta that theatre!). Yep, check out that gorgeous 5 1/2" platformed light lavender suede pump, that's denim or dress-ready. Woowee! Ohh, and check out your next best thing to these Atwoods (at just over $100!).
When little Miss Bradshaw (or Mrs. Preston now, I should say!) hopped in her Benzie with John James "Mr. Big" Preston, she was stylishly adorned in accessories, head to toe, and this fabulous Halston Heritage silk-chiffon dress. Sista is one stylish flapper-girl here, and her retro T-strap, wing-tip pumps just accentuate the outfit.
And well, I just had to show this outfit that no doubt you've all seen in the movie reviews and ads in the past few weeks. Yep, it's an outfit that she wears at a significant movie-moment, and also just happens to be Ms. Parker's fave outfit in the entire movie, according to a recent interview--vintage tee + poofy prom skirt, how sweet! I feel like I could never pull it off, but love to see her in this type of outfit so I can live vicariously. Of course I dig the strappy pink heels that finish off this outfit and give it an even girlier boost.
So on your Memorial Day weekend, plan a little 'girls night out' and get inspired by some Sex and the City 2 fashion! The fashionista, Carrie-wannabe inside of ya will be glad you did.

Shoe closet love.

I will be the first to stand up and admit that I have a fabulous husband. Not only is he smart, funny, creative and patient, but he's pretty darned hot too! I still consider us newlyweds (and probably will for quite some time), because we're always doing thoroughly silly stuff for one another--keepin' things fresh, fun and surprising, ya know? Here's one of my fave pics of us, taken a few years ago during our engagement photoshoot. Good times. That being said, I was still simply breath-taken when I came home from a way-too-long day of work and found that my sweet beau had used his furlough day (yes, it's not just a vicious rumor that we have those all over the place in the state of CA) to transform our hall coat closet into none other than a shoe closet . You heard me right... shoe closet = every girl's dream, ya? We don't really use our hall coat closet anyway, living in such a warm southern California city, so I was thrilled to actually put this space t

Long time, no type.

You guys. Has it seriously been a full YEAR since I've typed up a blog post on here? That is both depressing and encouraging. Depressing--because I feel like I have forgotten about my first "child" my Holly in Heels blog. Encouraging--because it means that I have been suuuper busy with other fun and creative projects, like my continued PR and media copywriting, contributions to Coyote + Oak magazine out of San Luis Obispo, as well as Locale Magazine 's newest San Francisco addition. I have to admit that while these other (paying) jobs keep me busy and on my toes, I do stop and think about my former life as a fashion and lifestyle blogger, and how I miss the creative outlet. To be able to write about whatever topic I choose is certainly a gift. Writing is also therapeutic for me--this blog is like a friend. Like the kind you can call up anytime, talk about the deep stuff and then mention this new conditioner you tried...and then switch back to the meaning of lif

5 Creative Ways to Store and Display your Fabulous Shoes.

Before we begin...I need to ask for your forgiveness. I haven't blogged  since May . Ahhhh! Shame on me, I know. But before you grab your voodoo doll and punish me for the lack of shoe inspiration I've been sending your way, please be proud of my for massively growing my freelance writing business, tackling some public relations work, and stepping up  my Instagram pop-up shop . It's been fun, but the blog has been lacking. Luckily, I got guest blogger, Kelsey, to help me out this week with a fun story about how to creatively store and display your shoes (and keep you looking stylish, too!). Read on. . . . Shoes can pose a serious storage problem, even in spacious closets. The average American owns 19 pairs of shoes , while most shoe lovers are guilty of hoarding many more than that. This can too easily cause clutter and set us back 5 or 10 minutes during our morning routines. If you need shoe organization ideas to get a wrangle on your repertoire, Modernize has sever
