My Sunday Treat

You see, it all started with the Global Glamour spread in the April 2010 Lucky Magazine--culprit: page 133, cotton wedges, Cynthia Vincent for Target. That's right, you'd be quite impressed with Target.com's StyleBoutique that features designer gems at bargain basement prices! Well, I've had my eyes on these colorful wedges for a few months now, via this Lucky Mag spread, but could never spot them during my regular Target dashes for paper towels, nail polish remover and birthday cards. Yep, sad lil' old me would always browwwse past the shoe section, hoping for Cynthia Vincent's elegant name to pop out at me.

Well, today I was in luck. Got 'em...at $30 flat. Cynthia Vincent for Target® Print Wedge Sandals - Multicolor (oh yes they are!):
Pretty sure I can pull these off with any outfit that needs that kick-in-the-pants of color & tribe. Ohhh, I'm so happy! Made my Sunday, quite frankly. That, and my husband finished some killer home improvement projects (a close 2nd). Go out and get these, ladies! They're worth every penny, and Cynthia Vincent agrees.

Shoe closet love.

I will be the first to stand up and admit that I have a fabulous husband. Not only is he smart, funny, creative and patient, but he's pretty darned hot too! I still consider us newlyweds (and probably will for quite some time), because we're always doing thoroughly silly stuff for one another--keepin' things fresh, fun and surprising, ya know? Here's one of my fave pics of us, taken a few years ago during our engagement photoshoot. Good times. That being said, I was still simply breath-taken when I came home from a way-too-long day of work and found that my sweet beau had used his furlough day (yes, it's not just a vicious rumor that we have those all over the place in the state of CA) to transform our hall coat closet into none other than a shoe closet . You heard me right... shoe closet = every girl's dream, ya? We don't really use our hall coat closet anyway, living in such a warm southern California city, so I was thrilled to actually put this space t

Long time, no type.

You guys. Has it seriously been a full YEAR since I've typed up a blog post on here? That is both depressing and encouraging. Depressing--because I feel like I have forgotten about my first "child" my Holly in Heels blog. Encouraging--because it means that I have been suuuper busy with other fun and creative projects, like my continued PR and media copywriting, contributions to Coyote + Oak magazine out of San Luis Obispo, as well as Locale Magazine 's newest San Francisco addition. I have to admit that while these other (paying) jobs keep me busy and on my toes, I do stop and think about my former life as a fashion and lifestyle blogger, and how I miss the creative outlet. To be able to write about whatever topic I choose is certainly a gift. Writing is also therapeutic for me--this blog is like a friend. Like the kind you can call up anytime, talk about the deep stuff and then mention this new conditioner you tried...and then switch back to the meaning of lif

5 Creative Ways to Store and Display your Fabulous Shoes.

Before we begin...I need to ask for your forgiveness. I haven't blogged  since May . Ahhhh! Shame on me, I know. But before you grab your voodoo doll and punish me for the lack of shoe inspiration I've been sending your way, please be proud of my for massively growing my freelance writing business, tackling some public relations work, and stepping up  my Instagram pop-up shop . It's been fun, but the blog has been lacking. Luckily, I got guest blogger, Kelsey, to help me out this week with a fun story about how to creatively store and display your shoes (and keep you looking stylish, too!). Read on. . . . Shoes can pose a serious storage problem, even in spacious closets. The average American owns 19 pairs of shoes , while most shoe lovers are guilty of hoarding many more than that. This can too easily cause clutter and set us back 5 or 10 minutes during our morning routines. If you need shoe organization ideas to get a wrangle on your repertoire, Modernize has sever
