Every girl's must-have makeup!

Every girl loves shoes. That is pretty much a given, right? Ok, maybe I’m a tad bit biased, but aside from shoes, the other things that each and every girly girl loves is makeup! From the time we are wee ones, us gals somehow manage to dig in our mom’s make up cases and smear on that lipstick, and rose up our cheeks with some blush. And from then on, we are always on the hunt for the perfect cosmetics – the right tint or hue, the blush with the most natural look, just the right red for our lips, and the mascara that makes our lashes look most luscious.

During my hunt for the perfect make up, my priorities have changed a bit, and over time it’s become increasingly important for me to have natural, healthy make up. I’ve had my fair share of breakouts and blotchiness due to bad, cheap make up – but those days are over now that I’ve discovered tarte cosmetics! tarte is a leader in high-performance naturals, all cruelty-free products, with pure and healthy ingredients. How do they do it, you ask? Their ingredients include nothing but fruit and plant extracts, vitamins, minerals, essential oils and other naturally derived ingredients. No dangerous parabens for your gorgeous skin, no mineral oil, or other synthetic fragrances that us health-conscious gals try and stay away from. Love it! So I thought I’d share with y’all a few of my favorite tarte cosmetics products – add it to your summer wish list, ladies! Trust me.

The ‘Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush’ is not only a “Best of Beauty” Allure magazine award winner, but also the best long-wearing blush out there. Infused with true Amazonia clay harvested from the banks of the Amazon River, this blush is perfect for all skin types, giving a dash of color and shimmer, while balancing and hydrating skin as you wear it all day long. If you have dry, flaky skin (which you may this summer!) this is the perfect mask for your case!
I love a perfect go-to color. And my tarte ‘LipSurgence™ matte lip tint’ is that color. Another bestseller, this formula moisturizes naturally, glides on smoothly, and has a scented hint of mint to finish. Packed with color as well as vitamin C & E, pepperming and jojoba oil, you won’t want to put anything else on those smackers of yours! The ‘lucky’ color is perfect for summer, and I dig the ‘envy’ color for the fall/winter months. Lasts forever, too! Adore.
If you’re looking for a lengthening, curling, volumizing, and conditioning mascara, the tarte ‘lights, camera, lashes™ 4-in-1 mascara’ is literally the answer to your prayers. Considered the “push-up bra for your lashes” this mascara will give you that BOOST that your eyes have been looking for! As usual, tarte brings a clinically proven formula that is safe, and effective in increasing lash volume. Va-va-voom! Throw on some of this for summer, and you’re beach-ready!
So this summer, as you throw on those cute sandals and perfectly, styled outfit, make sure you’re primping yourself with some of these hotlist items from tarte – you will thank me for it!

xoxo,

Shoe closet love.

I will be the first to stand up and admit that I have a fabulous husband. Not only is he smart, funny, creative and patient, but he's pretty darned hot too! I still consider us newlyweds (and probably will for quite some time), because we're always doing thoroughly silly stuff for one another--keepin' things fresh, fun and surprising, ya know? Here's one of my fave pics of us, taken a few years ago during our engagement photoshoot. Good times. That being said, I was still simply breath-taken when I came home from a way-too-long day of work and found that my sweet beau had used his furlough day (yes, it's not just a vicious rumor that we have those all over the place in the state of CA) to transform our hall coat closet into none other than a shoe closet . You heard me right... shoe closet = every girl's dream, ya? We don't really use our hall coat closet anyway, living in such a warm southern California city, so I was thrilled to actually put this space t

Long time, no type.

You guys. Has it seriously been a full YEAR since I've typed up a blog post on here? That is both depressing and encouraging. Depressing--because I feel like I have forgotten about my first "child" my Holly in Heels blog. Encouraging--because it means that I have been suuuper busy with other fun and creative projects, like my continued PR and media copywriting, contributions to Coyote + Oak magazine out of San Luis Obispo, as well as Locale Magazine 's newest San Francisco addition. I have to admit that while these other (paying) jobs keep me busy and on my toes, I do stop and think about my former life as a fashion and lifestyle blogger, and how I miss the creative outlet. To be able to write about whatever topic I choose is certainly a gift. Writing is also therapeutic for me--this blog is like a friend. Like the kind you can call up anytime, talk about the deep stuff and then mention this new conditioner you tried...and then switch back to the meaning of lif

5 Creative Ways to Store and Display your Fabulous Shoes.

Before we begin...I need to ask for your forgiveness. I haven't blogged  since May . Ahhhh! Shame on me, I know. But before you grab your voodoo doll and punish me for the lack of shoe inspiration I've been sending your way, please be proud of my for massively growing my freelance writing business, tackling some public relations work, and stepping up  my Instagram pop-up shop . It's been fun, but the blog has been lacking. Luckily, I got guest blogger, Kelsey, to help me out this week with a fun story about how to creatively store and display your shoes (and keep you looking stylish, too!). Read on. . . . Shoes can pose a serious storage problem, even in spacious closets. The average American owns 19 pairs of shoes , while most shoe lovers are guilty of hoarding many more than that. This can too easily cause clutter and set us back 5 or 10 minutes during our morning routines. If you need shoe organization ideas to get a wrangle on your repertoire, Modernize has sever
